NOTICE OF INTERIM ELECTIONS TO STRATHERRICK & FOYERS COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Stratherrick & Foyers Community Council has decided that it needs to formally elect our three co-opted members and associate member via an Interim Election (paid for by SFCC not Highland Council). The CC has an allocation of 8 councillors of which at least 4 must be elected members otherwise we have to go into abeyance – only one elected councillor needs to go for us to be in this position. With so many important projects being undertaken by the CC at the moment, and the Stronelairg Community Benefit Fund money about to be paid, we cannot allow this to happen.
The four elected councillors at present are Ian Bateman, Catriona Fraser Martin Donnelly and Gordon McAandie – they will not be part of this election.
The three co-opted members who need to be elected are Kim Burton, Jim Cameron and Philip Crowe along with Paula Page (associate member). It is worthwhile pointing out that when the Election process is completed, we will only have 7 months until the Highland Council run Community Council elections in September 2019 when the current Community Council will stand down but we need to future-proof the CC for the intervening months.
However, anyone else in the community can nominate themselves for a place on the Community Council and Nomination Forms will be available from me – either by email or via postal paper copy – once the Election process begins. Nomination forms can also be downloaded from here: Nomination Form 2019
If only four nominations are received, there will be NO postal ballot and the four nominees will be duly elected to serve as members of Stratherrick & Foyers CC until September 2019.
The election process will begin on Tuesday 8th January 2019
